The American Medical Technologists (AMT) is a nonprofit certification agency and professional membership association representing over 41,000 individuals in allied health care. Established in 1939, AMT has been providing allied health professionals with professional certification services and membership programs to enhance their professional and personal growth. Upon certification, individuals automatically become members of AMT and start to receive valuable benefits. The Association for Molecular Pathology(AMP) is a not-for-profit scientific society dedicated to the advancement, practice, and science of clinical molecular laboratory medicine and translational research based on the applications of genomics and proteomics.

The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) is the oldest and largest non-registry professional society, representing 12,000 non-physician clinical laboratory practitioners. The society's members include clinical laboratory directors, managers, supervisors, hematologists, immunologists, educators, clinical chemists, microbiologists, phlebotomists and other professionals. The mission of ASCLS is support its members in their quest to provide quality services for all consumers. The members ascribe to a code of ethics and are committed to safeguarding the dignity and privacy of patients and providing accurate information to other health care professionals about laboratory services. The Society promotes the highest standards of practice and professional competence through conferences, publications and education programs. The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), founded in 1922, is the world's largest organization representing the entire laboratory team. ASCP's membership comprises 130,000 pathologists, residents, doctoral-level laboratory scientists, and a host of laboratory professionals, including pathologists' assistants, medical technologists, cytotechnologists, histotechnologists, histologic technicians, phlebotomists, medical laboratory technicians, and numerous other laboratory specialists. The American Society for Cytotechnology (ASCT), as the collective voice for the profession, is committed to defining and promoting cytotechnology by: developing practice standards; monitoring and evaluating legislative/regulatory issues and emerging technologies affecting the profession; and providing unique, practical educational opportunities pertinent to the practice of cytotechnology. The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is the largest single life science society, comprising 42,000 scientists and health professionals. The ASC’s diverse membership of more than 3000 individuals includes representatives from other countries who share a vision of education, research and continuous improvement in the standards and quality of patient care. T he Association of Genetic Technologists, Inc. (AGT), founded in 1975, is a non-profit professional organization established to promote cooperation and exchange of information among those engaged in classical cytogenetics, molecular and biochemical genetics, and to stimulate interest in genetics as a career. The approximately 1,300 technologists, supervisors, and lab directors that are members of AGT comprise a network of dedicated professionals who share a common bond; an interest in genetics. AGT's annual meeting provides opportunities to develop professional contacts in the ever-expanding area of clinical and research genetics. Our publications keep members and subscribers abreast of the latest developments in the field. AGT's continuing educational opportunities assist those who have professional certifications to maintain their professional credentials. In addition, various awards and volunteer opportunities allow technologists to be recognized for their contribution to the profession. The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is a national non-profit dedicated to working with its members to strengthen public health laboratories. By promoting effective programs and public policy, APHL strives to provide public health laboratories with the resources and infrastructure needed to protect the health of U.S. residents and to prevent and control disease globally.
Founded in 1976, the Clinical Laboratory Management Association is an international association of healthcare professionals who are responsible for the operation of laboratories and clinical services provided by hospitals and related healthcare organizations. CLMA’s mission is to further enhance the profession of laboratory management and leadership skill development for its members. The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is committed to being the premier agency for international accreditation and approval of educational programs in the clinical laboratory sciences and related healthcare disciplines. NAACLS provides leadership in fostering innovative educational apoproaches and actively supports cooperative efforts with other agencies.
The Veterans Health Affairs Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (VA) operates approximately 600 clinical laboratories across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Manila in a variety of inpatient and outpatient facilities.
